Bandile Shazi is at King Edward VII School on a scholarship from the Lloyd Rowley Foundation. It was decided towards the end of his Grade 9 year for the TAG Foundation to take him under our organisational wing. We were thrilled to welcome him to our group of special boys.
He hails from Randfontein on the West Rand and attended Westgold Primary School. He knew nothing about King Edward VII School, but his mother decided this is where he should go for high school and he says he is not sorry about the decision she made.
Bandile is a good all-round sportsman. He is part of the team who competed in the 1st term athletics programme. He is a hurdler and excelled at Inter High. He is also a rugby player, having played flank for the U14 and U15A teams.
Bandile is a boarder at Buxton House and he loves it. “The friends I made at School House in Grade 8 have all come across with me. He says the meals at hostel are better than he would be getting at home.
Bandile dreams of making the Reds team by the time he gets to matric. He would also like to make the Top 10 Academics list for his grade. He says he has a way to go to get there as his marks are average at the moment, but he is determined to improve and is getting all the help he needs.
