Thabang attended Dagbreek Primary School in Welkom. He played rugby for the Griffons in the Primary Schools Craven Week and participated at the SA Primary School athletics championships in the long jump and hurdles.
Thabang Mphafi misses his grandmother. He was living with her in Welkom before he came across to King Edward VII School in the second term of Grade 8. He looks forward to spending the holidays with her. Other than missing his grandmother, there is nothing he regrets about his decision to come to KES and he is very thankful to the TAG Foundation for making it possible for him.
Thabang loves living in the hostel. He believes it has helped him with his school work as the boys are encouraged to spend time studying. They are also well looked after and taught to be respectful.
Rugby is taken seriously at the school and he likes that. He played in the under-14A and 15A teams and believes the boys have formed a bond and are a strong team.
He is looking forward to athletics season when no doubt he is going to make a big contribution to the school. His immediate dreams are to make the Grant Khomo team as an under-16 and of course to play for the Reds one day.
