🥎Bounce into a Winning Wednesday!! Tagger in Focus – Nipho Ngwenya 🗣When people tell you, you can’t, you go out and show them! ✨Tagger and rising tennis talent Nipho Ngwenya is quickly developing and cementing his standing and ranking in the tennis arena. 👩‍🎓We asked Mrs Michelle Thorne ( Head of Tennis at King Edward VII School) for her thoughts and update on this young man. Let it be known, Mrs Thorne had ‘lots to say’ about Nipho and it was all good and full of high praise!! “Nipho Ngwenya now in Grade 10 has been an inspiration to us all and has an incredible impact on the KES 1st team Tennis. He is well respected amongst the whole tennis club and plays with such determination and such a strong mind. He is currently ranked the number 1 player in the school, something he does not take for granted in the school and he simply never disappoints. His strong will and mind allow him to remain focused on each and every match and challenge presented to him. I absolutely love watching him play, on the court he gives 100% every game, so focused, that I never know if he is winning or not. His temperament and body language remains the same, regardless of what the scoreboard reads. He focuses on one point at a time which I believe is one of his greatest strengths.
Whilst juggling his academics, and extramural commitments, Nips dedicates so much time to the code he loves, Tennis! He is an active TSA and ITF player playing tournaments every opportunity he gets.  Recently he returned from representing SA U16 in the ITF/CAT Championships. This is the second year in a row he has been one of three players selected. Proudly representing School, Province, Country and the Foundation, Nips performed brilliantly. He and the SA team had a fantastic tournament coming out as the overall winners. Note too, that for the second year too Nipho won all his matches in straight sets.  I cannot wait to see this young man continue to climb the rankings. I am so grateful to have not only a fantastic player but a gentleman in the team. Although he is quiet, there is a very dry sense of humour which is quirky and keeps the team spirits up. Nips, is without a doubt an asset to King Edward VII School and on his young shoulders he carries the responsibility of representing School, Nation and Foundation in a manner that is exemplary and is proudly continuing the Tradition of Excellence.” ~ Michelle Thorne, KES. 🎾Game, set and match – the winning combo of a supportive community, mentors and leaders like Mrs Thorne and the pure, raw talent of this formidable young man, the future is indeed bright. You are an ACE Nipho – thank you for making your tribe, sponsors, and donors so enormously proud. The talents of tomorrow are realised through the generosity of so many who believe in making a difference and changing lives through the TAG Foundation. Go School. Go TAG Foundation. #tagpride💗 #changemakers #worldshakers #thefuturethrougheducation #sports #tennis #risingstar #welldonenips #kesboys

    🗣Taggers Talk - Class of 2023
Thanks, Memories, Plans and Message to Class of 2024! 🌟CALEB LOMBARD - Bachelor's Degree Pass + 5 distinctions
I cannot express my sincerest gratitude to the TAG foundation. They have given me countless opportunities for which I am beyond grateful. The kindness of everyone in this great foundation is incomparable. Something that I am overjoyed to have been a part of. I am studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of the Witwatersrand this year whilst also playing for the junior Lions. My best memory of 2023 was without a doubt playing at the Craven week. It was truly a dream come true.  My message to the class of 2024 is to work hard and stay determined. Your hard work always pays off.
    🌟LESEDI SHOLE - Bachelor's Degree Pass
I would like to graciously take this moment to thank the TAG Foundation for giving me an opportunity of a lifetime. Over last 5 years I have made some amazing memories which I will never forget.  King Edward VII School is an institution which will forever be in my heart. I am hugely grateful for having the opportunity to be written in the History Books of the Red Machine!  I am hoping to study a Bachelor of Education or a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology next either at Wits or University of Johannesburg. My greatest memory since I have been a TAG boy was the first time I went to Mr and Mrs Gerber’s house. I was absolutely blown with how great the Foundation is and the house itself proved to be an inspiration for me because I have never been to such an abode, it simply humbled me.  My message to the Class of 2024 is pretty simple, the year goes by pretty quickly guys, so I encourage that you make the most out of it and absolutely love being with one another for one last time.  🌟ANDREW ENGELBRECHT - Bachelor's Degree Pass + 2 distinctions
Thank you TAG Foundation for my amazing high school experience, I achieved all I did through your generosity and grew as an individual to a great extent, I learnt not only in the classroom but about everything outside the classroom, I think you for that. My plan for 2024 is to study at Wits while taking a bridging course for math and physics. I will be studying a general Bachelor of Arts for my first year and then look to study Civil/Mechanical engineering or architecture from my second year going forward. My fondest moment of 2023 would be winning against Jeppe in the final minutes, I really felt what it was to be a KES boy in that moment.  My message to the class of 2024 would be to take every second in, take no moment for granted, appreciate, and do your utmost best in every second, you will never realise what you have until it is gone. 🌟SIMAMOKELE KOMANE - Bachelor's Degree Pass I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the TAG Foundation for sponsoring my education at Parktown Girls. Your support has been an incredible blessing. Knowing that you not only supported my education but also attended my hockey games means so much. The encouragement and care you have provided throughout my experience at a Tagger have been a pivotal element of high school. Thank you for everything.  Plans for 2024 - I will likely be embarking on the journey of becoming a CA(SA), studying accounting, at UJ. However, I have been thinking about taking a gap year and working so as to decide what exactly I want to do with my life without external influences.  Fondest memory - It is incredibly difficult to choose my fondest memory of 2023 because there have been so many beautiful moments. If I had to choose one it would be Potted Sports day and celebrating the school’s centenary. The TAG Foundation event was also fun, meeting the faces behind the foundation was heart-warming.  Class of 2024 message -
Have so much fun! Matric is such a momentous experience so enjoy every second. When it gets rough, stay grounded and ask for help. You are so much smarter and stronger than you know, you are going to do great! 🌟KATLEGO NTOMBIFIKELE VIOLET LANGA - Bachelor's Degree Pass
I want to express my gratitude to TAG Foundation. The unconditional love that Auntie Tracy, Uncle Johnathan and Senzo have given to me and to the girls is not taken for granted. They saw my potential as a little grade 8 in 2019 and they welcomed me into the TAG family graciously. The day I met them for the first time is a memory forever entrenched in my heart. To my sponsors, to the Gerber family and to Mrs Hayward, may God abundantly bless you all.  In 2024, I want to study at Wits or UJ - so that I may stay close to home. Ideally, my career field is Law/International Relations and Political Studies and I feel that I will be well settled in whichever varsity I attend. My choices for undergraduate are BA Law and BA in Governance and Public Management.  My fondest memory as a Tag student was definitely when I got interviewed in grade 8, and the mini party we had in 2021 at the Gerber home but it was really fun working with the KES boys at the fundraiser function this year. Because of this, I became new friends with some of them.  To class of 2024, matric is not easy. You will have to sacrifice how much time you see your friends and family, and you will have many sleepless nights. You might lose friends along the way but to reach your potential you have to allow yourself to grow and to make mistakes so that you can learn from them. However, matric is also a time to reflect on how far you have come over 11 years of going to school. It is a wonderful opportunity to put yourself and your needs first. If you can balance your school life with your personal life, matric will be a breeze. Most importantly, do not forget to have fun! Even in the midst of the stress you must choose your happiness and your peace.  Once again, thank you to the TAG family and to Mrs Hayward for your support. I will make you all proud one day and I will not be a stranger.
    Katlego Langa signing out🤩 ✨️Ladies & Gentlemen, our wonderful Class of 2023 - they are our #tagpride💗 #changemakers #worldshakers #thefutureisnow #thefuturethrougheducation
